Dave Matthews Band will be featured on the cover of the July 2009 issue of Relix Magazine. This is the second magazine cover that DMB has been on this year as promotion continues for their new studio album, "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" which has been selling very well in it's first week.

This issue of Relix marks the third time that Dave Matthews has graced the cover. The full band landed on the cover of a Fall 2002 issue a few months after the release of "Busted Stuff". Dave Matthews was featured again on the cover with good friend Emmylou Harris in the Spring of 2004.

The July 2009 issue will be on newsstands on June 23rd, 2009 with the cover landscaping a bit of an somber mood. One the most glaring differences in recent promotional pictures is the absence of LeRoi Moore, who does play on "Big Whiskey". In addition, this particular shot features DMB's long-time friend Tim Reynolds whom has been tour with the band full-time since the start of the 2008 tour. Tim has been with the band in many ways since the beginning, featured not only the new album, but many previous albums and tours as well. Dave and Tim have also been featured solo on various magazines over the years, but never with the full band.

The July issue covers topics of the current state of the band and the path leading up to "Big Whiskey". In the article Dave Matthews offers a more in-depth explanations of each song from the new album. Dave Matthews recently discussed many of the new songs in an interview with Matt Pinfield. Dave acknowledges the fact that the past few albums were not the bands "best work", but feels that "Big Whiskey", while a tribute to LeRoi, also gets back to the basic, raw sound and connection that the band had on the first three studio albums.

Relix is likely not the last magazine that you will see the band featured on this year. Be sure to pick up your copy of the magazine - two weeks from today.
