We've made it to Australia. Everyone is excited about playing our first show tonight here in beautiful Melbourne. We'll put some photos up on the site in the next few days.

We played our first show in Australia last night. It was amazing. After not having played live in over five months, the band was obviously very ready to get their groove on. The gorgeous Palais Theatre, just off the coast of Port Phillip Bay in St Kilda proved to be a more intimate setting than we've grown accustomed to playing in recent years. Dave joked with the audience directly from the lip of the stage, sans microphone. We've got the morning off in Melbourne before we return to the theatre for another show this evening. Hooroo for now.

We're having an amazing time down here in Australia and feel very welcomed by the locals. Last night DMB performed American Baby live on a nationwide TV show called Rove Live. The response to the new single has been spectacular. Tonight's show in Brisbane was a sure sign of things to come. The audience really seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. We're off to Byron Bay in the morning where we'll be playing a festival along with our old friend Angélique Kidjo. We are all looking forward to catching her set. See you back here soon. DMB took Byron Bay by storm last night. Many turned out at the festival to catch the set. Dave sat in with Angélique Kidjo during her set singing "Iwoya", a duet they recorded together for her album "Black Ivory Soul". She then joined DMB on stage singing her wonderful rendition of "Satellite". Stefan opened Watchtower with a solo which included the Australian National Anthem, causing the audience to roar with excitement. We're enjoying our first day off in a week. Flying to Sydney this afternoon for shows on Saturday and Sunday. Hooroo, mates.

Just wrapped up our last show in Australia at Sydney's State Theatre. An amazing time was had by band and crew. We can't wait to get back here. We're flying home in the morning, then starting to gear up for Jazz Fest in New Orleans at the end of April. See y'all there.

We're winding down after the first show of the tour tonight in St. Louis. The band left the stage exhilarated after ttheir performance. This year's show will surely tickle each of your senses. The tour is definitely well on it's way and it's going to be a fun one. We played to a packed house tonight outside of Chicago. In addition to the new songs that the band is playing, they are mixing in classics and some of the more rare tunes in their repertoire. We're sure to hear more of these as the tour progresses. It was the perfect night for a DMB show. Tonight we played our first of two gigs in Burgettstown, PA. DMB put on an powerful set which was echoed by the reaction of the audience. This house was rockin'! Everyone is getting into the new songs. We're already beginning to hear them evolve as they get played live more often. Stand Up took a notable turn this evening as the band toyed with the arrangement. We're psyched to be back here tomorrow. Until then...

What a fun night tonight! Robert Randolph and the Family Band has joined us on the road for a few gigs. They're an amazingly musical bunch and definetly worth checking out. DMB asked Robert to sit in on Louisiana Bayou this evening. His pedal steel stylings added a fitting dimension to this yet maturing song. Thanks to the Pittsburgh fans for the hospitality over the past few days. We're headed to Columbus for shows on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hope to see y'all there.

DMB very obviously had a blast on stage tonight. They started strong with Everyday, spurring the audience to sing along at full volume. Dream Girl followed, which opened with an impromptu intro. About mid-way through the set they brought it way down with an eerily beautiful version of Out Of My Hands. Robert Randolph graced us with his presence once again this evening, this time joining in on both Louisiana Bayou and Watchtower, bringing the house down. See y'all right back here tomorrow.

It just keeps getting better out here. The band is stronger than ever. Tonight's set consisted of a truely great mix of old and new tunes, amazing solos, song teases and stage banter. Surely a sign of things to come. We're on our way to the Roo. See y'all in Tennessee on Friday.

The rain didn't stop DMB from rockin' Bonnaroo this evening. Sharing the stage with such great talent amongst the artists playing the festival is a great honor for all of us. Alison Krauss and Union Station opened the show today. We've been looking forward to checking out their set for some time now. The Allman Brothers followed and did not disappoint. Warren Haynes stuck around after the Allman's set and sat in with DMB on Jimi Thing. Robert Randolph also came by and joined in on Louisiana Bayou and Watchtower. The audiences response to the whole show was fantastic. We're driving to Indianapolis for shows on Sunday and Monday. Hope to see y'all there.

We're just wrapping up a couple great nights in Indiana. The remnants of tropical storm Arlene paid us a visit, drenching everything in sight. It made for some real dramatic moments during the performances. The set lists varied, consisting of a pleasing mix of old and new tunes. In addition to many of the newer standards, they pulled out some favorites including Seek Up and Dancing Nancies. The introduction to All Along The Watchtower tonight came out of nowhere, augmented by a stellar lighting show. With Robert Randolph sitting in, the band kicked into a completely improvised funk groove mixed with overtones of Thriller, trading licks and laughs. We all had a blast here over the past few days. The energy level at Blossom tonight was astonishing. This venue, originally designed for symphony, is a giant wooden fortress taking the appearance of the hull of an old ship. It holds an immense natural reverberation, while a bit of a challenge for the audio crew, makes for a rich experience for audience and band alike.We enjoyed a pleasant day off in Cleveland yesterday. Some of the crew headed down to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and ended up spending half the day. A highly recommended destination for those visiting this great city. We're chillin' for a couple days before the performances in Hartford this weekend. Catch y'all on the flip-side.

We're just getting off the stage after our first of two shows here in Hartford. The band invited their old friend Rashawn Ross on trumpet to sit in on Louisiana Bayou. We've seen him before as he's played with Soulive and Yerba Buena, among others. See you back here tomorrow.

Tonight DMB played Scranton, PA for the first time ever. The show also marked the first sell-out for this venue. There is a nice vibe here, nestled in the hills. In addition to the aesthetic beauty of the surrounding forest and great weather, the crowd is LOUD! The tent roof reflects the energy back at the audience and band. We're driving overnight to Virginia Beach for a show tomorrow. See you there.

We couldn't have asked for better weather these past couple days. DMB played a loud and tight set tonight, augmented by Navy planes from the local air base flying overhead. Lots of friends in the house as we are so close to home. We're hangin' on the beach tomorrow before heading to Hershey for a show on Saturday.

It got as hot as 106 degrees out here today and only cooled as far as the low 80's but that didn't seem to slow the band down much. We're usually here in July, but it seems July's weather has arrived early this year. A surprise tonight was Dancing Nancies, which wasn't originally on the set list, but got added after an earlier tease for it got a big cheer. The whole night was nice and varied with plenty of ups and downs. We're heading back into Virginia. See y'all tomorrow!

We're as close to Charlottesville as we'll be getting this tour. The band ripped through a great set for the hometown crowd. Welcomed back by many, Say Goodbye returned to the fold tonight. Hunger for the Great Light is quickly becoming a loud crowd pleaser. Robert Randolph took a break from recording to come down and join the band on a few songs, promptly blowing the roof off the place. See y'all in Charlotte on Tuesday!

Tonight's show in Charlotte was as good a reminder as any of how great it is to be alive! DMB really put on an amazing show. The venue here is a little smaller and more intimate than the last few amphitheaters we've been in lately. The band had a noticeably enjoyable time playing together for the enthusiastic crowd. Tonight saw the return of "Time Of The Season" in a more up-beat set list. The arrangement on Dreamgirl took a bit of a turn as the band experimented with some new chord changes at the tail end of the tune. Can't wait to see where it goes tomorrow. See y'all in Raleigh

What an incredible experience we all had today. We got an early start on site for the Live 8 show. It was amazing how many people were already there when we arrived at 6:30 AM. It was quite a scene back stage as the eclectic mix of bands prepared for their turn to play. DMB rocked 4 strong songs for their set which was said to have been watched by millions worldwide. Immediately following the set in Philly, we rushed to the airport for a quick flight back to Saratoga Springs and arrived with about an hour and a half to go before set time. Just enough time to gather our thoughts before putting on another show. Admittedly, we were all a bit tired after the whirlwind we had just been through, but that changed immediately when DMB hit the stage to the roar of the eagerly awaiting audience. The band members were so moved by the energy of the crowd tonight that they took a moment between songs to thank and applaud the audience for their exuberance. We're going to take a couple days off to recover before we hit Camden on Tuesday for the first of two shows there. You could tell from the first note that the guys came to play tonight! Carter played so hard that he broke his snare drum during the beginning of Ants Marching. It's a great thing to watch as he and the drum tech change out a drum in the middle of a tune. They played a fun and energetic set through and through. See you back here in Camden tomorrow night.

Our second night in Camden proved as good as the first. Hunger For The Great Light, a newer staple, is rocking hard while tunes like Out Of My Hands and Stolen Away are consistently very soulful and emotional moments during the shows. We're watching as many of the new songs are quickly becoming DMB classics. Tonight we leave the "City of Brotherly Love" for the city that's the "Cradle of Liberty". Few words can describe the terrific show we had in Mansfield tonight. The band played a set that will leave people grinning for a while. It goes without saying just how cool it was to hear #34 in its entirety, played live for the first time in over 12 years. Other highlights included Drive In Drive Out, Say Goodbye and Time Of The Season. Heck, the whole show was great. See y'all back here tomorrow.

After a hot, sticky day, relief came as DMB hit the stage. We had a great show tonight in Atlanta, a town with many familiar faces. The band is enjoying the process of constructing their set lists lately, having more songs to choose from than ever before. As we witnessed this evening, the mixture of new and old songs are leaving few in the audience displeased. To cap off an already memorable show tonight, Trey Anastasio stopped by to sit in on Jimi Thing and Louisiana Bayou, the last couple songs of the set. Those two songs alone, which not only featured Trey but also left plenty of room for the band members to shine, will leave us talking for a while. We're driving overnight to Tampa for a show tomorrow. See y'all there.

A fierce thunderstorm hovered over the venue for hours before the show tonight in Tampa, threatening to put a damper on the festivities. Thankfully it eased up, making way for the band's set. The show contained many open spots for jamming, making for a bit of a more free-style, jazzy type of evening. We are psyched to be hitting the beach tomorrow. See y'all in West Palm on Saturday.

We had a fantastic time in West Palm Beach tonight for our first of 2 shows here. DMB pulled out You Never Know for the first time in a few years. DMB performed a well rounded set tonight in West Palm with rocking favorites like Bartender and Rapunzel intermingled with more delicate newer songs like Out Of My Hands and Stolen Away. Louisiana Bayou is really coming into its own lately.We've had some time over the past couple days to get some new stuff up on the web site for your enjoyment. Notable updates include the crew mug shots and action photos. The questions being submitted on ourgear page have been pouring in at a nearly overwhelming rate. Robert Randolph happens to be in Nashville doing some recording, so the band asked him to come down and hang out for a few tunes. His pedal steel stylings added to an already great evening. Early in the
show the band for the first time played the track known as American Baby Intro, though they actually segued it into Dream Girl. This tune has the solid potential to step up and become it's own thing. We're psyched to see where it goes. Soon we'll be climbing on the busses for an overnight drive to Cinci' for a show tomorrow night. Hope to see you there.

The set tonight flowed well. DMB opened up with One Sweet World into Don't Drink The Water, then followed with the American Baby Intro leaving many in the room with goose bumps as the energy level skyrocketed. The groove persisted all the way through to Rapunzel. We're sitting backstage now that the show's over, listening to Mike Doughty's Haughty Melodic. A new crew favorite. People ask us all the time...."What's your favorite place to play?" Now, you got your Gorges and you got your Red Rocks and so on, but there's an inexplicable magic that envelopes Alpine Valley. The band is the first to tell you how much they like coming back. The weather this afternoon got a bit crazy. At about 4:15 the sky turned black and the tornado sirens started going off. We had to quickly pull down and cover up a lot of the gear that we spent all day setting up. Due to the heavy gusts of wind across the stage, we were forced to call off soundcheck. We rode out the storm and barely got everything back up and running for the show. We learned that at about show time there were still many people outside of the venue waiting to get in so we opted hold the show for a half hour. Once the band hit, it was hard to tell the mayhem that had occurred earlier. It was cool to hear #41 as the opener tonight which was followed by a really unique and powerful set. This tour just keeps getting better. Catch you back here tomorrow night.

Finally a break from the heat. We've been pummeled by the sun for weeks, but after a rainy day we were left with a beautifully cool evening for a show. We're always treated well under the tent at Darien Lake. The adjacent amusement park seems to time their fireworks to the shows here. Might be coincidence, but it adds a cool dimension nonetheless. We're pumped for Randalls Island this weekend. Hope you can make it.

We had an amazing night in San Francisco tonight. It was quite a chilly evening, a sensation we had not yet experienced this summer. The band was not slowed at all by the cold, rather it seemed to propel them to rock harder. About two-thirds of the way through the set DMB invited their friends Eric Krasno and Rashawn Ross from the band Soulive to sit in. They ended up hanging out for the duration of the show, gracing us with their soulful stylings. We're back here tomorrow night. See y'all then.

Good show tonight in Marysville. Real funky at times, pleasantly mellow for some moments and held a solid groove throughout. We're realizing that we are in the middle of a whole month of gigs with no roofs over the audience and it's enjoyable, but probably just coincidence. The 'open-air' thing makes for a very pleasant setting to perform in. We've got a long drive ahead of us on our way up to Washington. See y'all at the Gorge this weekend.

We're having a blast out here at the Gorge. The first two shows were fun and energetic. There were many high points to the show tonight. From #41 as the opener to the awesome jams in Lie In Our Graves to the moonrise over the hill behind the audience to the classic Two Step closer. Can't wait for tomorrow.

It was a special night at the Gorge. DMB played the final of their three show stint; the set consisting of some less commonly played songs. As Butch started the piano prelude to what was to become Steady As We Go , he touched on a lick from Paul McCartney's Blackbird . At that moment, each of the band members looked over at him, smiled and nodded and suddenly they were playing the tune. Completely impromptu, it was great to witness in person. A little comedy ensued when Dave attempted to tease a few bars of #40 to kick off the encore. Quickly realizing that the guitar he was grasping at that moment had a different tuning than that required for #40 , he stopped and chuckled along with the rest on stage. Fonz then busted into the Crush intro, teasing Dreaming Tree along the way. We've got a few days before our next show in Chula Vista on Thursday. We're headed for the beach. See you there.

An energetic full house was present for tonight's show at Coor's Amphitheater in Chula Vista, and the band appreciated that energy! They played adventurously all night, and Butch and Carter broke into an impromptu Norwegian Wood between Warehouse and Steady As We Go. The three day break since the Gorge must have done everyone well. We're going to start setting up at the Home Depot Center tomorrow so we will be ready for the big L.A. shows this weekend. See y'all!

These were some of the best days we've ever spent in L.A. With many friends present in the house, the band played their hearts out. To the fine people of Phoenix. We hold very much respect for you as we try to figure out how you handle this heat all summer. Us easterners just aren't used to it. That said, it was a good day for us. The desert sky and the beautiful surroundings are inspiring. As we make our way across the southwest we're thinking about how the tour is quickly nearing its end and we're doing our best to savor every moment. We've got a nearly 500 mile overnight drive to Albuquerque for a show tomorrow which will make for a late load in. When asked how long it takes us to set up for a concert, a fair answer we'll often give is "as long as we have". Tomorrow that time will be less than usual, but we'll be ready. The wind kicked in for the show tonight in Albuquerque causing the lighting and sound rigs to sway fiercely in the air. We were also forced to leave the backdrops on the ground in fear that they would turn into sails. We've seen it before, it's not pretty. The temperature kept to a comfortable level compared to last night which was greatly appreciated by the band and crew. We're headed for the great state of Texas. See you in a couple days.

The band came screaming out of the gate tonight in Selma. After a stellar opening performance by Victor Wooten and his band, they were pumped. Dave and the band outwardly applauded the people of Texas for opening their arms to the victims of the storm. We're on our way to Dallas for a show tomorrow. See y'all there.

DMB played a funky show to an energetic audience in Houston tonight. We heard several stories today of Louisiana evacuees who left home with little, but refused to leave their tickets for the show tonight. A humbling thought. Once again, DMB lights up Red Rocks. It was hard to imagine how they could top last night's show, but they thoroughly succeeded at raising the bar. After a powerful opening set by the John Butler Trio, the
band immediately picked up on the stirring energy level of the audience and ran with it. As the show progressed, the excitement grew steadily amongst everyone present until mid-set when they pulled out one of the most amazing Jimi Things that we can remember. All bets were off. The show seemed to enter another dimension. Rashawn Ross joined in adding his potent trumpet stylings. He and LeRoi punched
out some funky licks together. Butch stood out as he scatted beautifully over his solo. We were all so moved after the tune that we had to pause a bit to let it all soak in. It just got better from there. Two more nights yet to come and we're filled with anticipation for what they will bring. See you back here tomorrow.

We enter this day with a flurry of mixed emotions. Last evening's performance was sure to please even the pickiest of die-hard fans. Mid-show, by the audiences bellowing request, the band pulled out Halloween on the spot then followed with a contrasting Butterfly. Today, on the last day of the tour, we are honored to welcome the Neville Brothers to this show benefiting the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It'll be a good night for certain.

Dave put it best tonight when he announced "This was the best way to end the best tour we ever had!" This really has been the time of our lives. The show tonight blew everyone away, including the band members themselves.. They opened the show with the extended version of Recently, which was actually the first time they played it all year. The band were proud to be joined on stage by some greatly respected musicians. Rashawn Ross came out first and blew over Recently and Jimi Thing. Next, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph and close friend David Cast joined in on an extended version of Marley's "Exodus". A stellar performance through and through. We're still tallying receipts, but we are hopeful that after the generous contributions of money, time and resources by countless individuals which made this event possible, we will be contributing more than we anticipated to the Bama Works Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Many thanks to all those involved in the production and to those who attended. We're headed home now to our families and our friends, but not without lumps in our throats resulting from the intense bonds we've formed amongst band and crew. Leaving one family for another, it's tough to part ways. Before long we'll be back at it with Farm Aid, Vegoose and who knows what else! See y'all soon.

It's amazing to catch a DMB show after they've been off the road for a couple months. Songs that we've heard for years seem to take on a new dimension after a little time away. Seek Up, Nancies, What Would, Two Step, Everyday; they all sounded as fresh tonight as they ever have. We could sense the excitement of the band as they came off the stage, knowing that they had just put on a great show. We're all fired up for what's to come over the next few weeks. The holidays are upon us and you could feel it in the air tonight. Butch and Carter layed down a smooth Linus and Lucy as the intro to Steady As We Go. To open the encore, Dave, Carter and Fonz entered the stage first to perform Christmas Song. It's been a few years since we've heard it, and it remains a favorite. We're driving overnight to Champaign for the show tomorrow. See you there.

We spent a really great night in Champaign tonight. The band were obviously having a blast on stage during the show. The set included some vintage favorites including Seek Up and #41. They also pulled out Stay (Wasting Time) for the first time this year. We're working our way into a couple days off in Detroit before our show on Saturday. Catch y'all on the flip-side.

We're just getting done with our show at Penn State. DMB pulled out a diverse set, playing Minarets for the first time in two and a half years. Two Step took twists and turns that we've never heard before, with Kras and Rashawn from Soulive sitting in. It's been fun listening each night this tour as the band members sneak holiday tunes into their solos. The hands are loading the trucks then we're headed for Rochester. See y'all tomorrow.

A very lively audience was present for the show in Rochester tonight. The venue's low ceiling contains the energy well. DMB picked up on the vibe early on and rolled with it. We're all excited to be headed to NYC for the shows at the Garden. We'll see y'all on Friday.

DMB played a tremendous show at the Garden tonight. The energy was incredibly high amongst the audience and band alike. We are very much going to miss having Soulive on the road with us but we're excited that Mike Doughty will be joining us for the duration of the tour. We'll see you back here tomorrow.

This tour has been short but sweet. Just one show left before we all head for home. Mike Doughty's Band has been kickin' out the phat jams, opening up the past few shows. We've got a day off to do some shopping in Boston before our show on Thursday. See you then.
