For
the sixth year in a row, a member of the Dave Matthews Band is giving
Charlottesville schools a $75,000 boost. Boyd Tinsley graduated from
Charlottesville High School in 1982. His donation goes towards
the orchestra programs, tennis programs and academics at
Charlottesville High, Walker Upper Elementary and Buford Middle
schools. Tinsley, a former member of the CHS orchestra, helps students in need get music lessons, instruments and camp tuition. "The
Boyd Tinsley Program has been helpful for me personally because it's
through that fund that I'm going to have a viola at the end of the
year. I've been renting one for seven years now and they're going to
buy me a viola, which I'm very excited about," said CHS senior
viola player Joseph Shea-Hackett. The grant also pays for tennis instructors, tennis camps and racquets for students.
